Hi, I’m Jackie. I live in a suburb outside of Detroit, and when I started this blog, I was sick of going to the same-ol’, same-ol’ chain restaurants and bars with my family and friends. I decided that from February 2014 to February 2015, I was going to break out of this rut and try to visit 100 new-to-me, locally-owned establishments – restaurants, bars, parks, shops, museums, etc. – in Detroit and its surrounding tri-county area. I did it, and it was awesome! I’m still exploring and still excited by the prospect of supporting local businesses and discovering the unique little gems nestled in the 100+ cities in this area. I hope my blog will encourage you to start exploring the neighborhoods around you, too. 🙂

Thank you, Claire! It was so much fun to have the challenge from Feb. ’14 to Feb. ’15 to explore 100 new places in my area. I am still venturing out to explore this year, though at a lesser extent so far – definitely looking to amp it up this summer and fall. 🙂
